Become a Credit Repair PowerhouseCredit repair requires a bit of finesse. It is essential to approach your credit repair project from several different angles simultaneously. This multi-faceted of approach will insure the best possible outcome. Leave out a single aspect of the project and your credit repair effort is likely to languish, or even fail in spite of the most belabored struggle. Are you ready for great success? Here are the credit repair secrets of the pros. Follow along and watch the magic happen. Rebuild Your Credit Now or FailIt does not matter how bad your credit is when you begin your credit repair journey, you need to start rebuilding your credit today. Credit cards are the most powerful tool available. You may be thinking that it would be better to wait until your credit is better before making application for a credit card, but that is not correct. Revolving credit takes up to six months to yield solid credit score benefits, so you cannot afford to wait. And if you are concerned about getting approved just apply for secured cards. Two is the correct number of cards for optimal credit repair results. Once you have them in hand just follow these rules. Revolving Debt RulesOnce you have two new credit cards open you need to manage them in a very special manner for the first year of your credit repair and recovery journey. Use them right away and never let the balance go all the way to zero. In addition, you need to learn about the magical relationship between your balance and your card limit. If you want your credit score to shine you should reduce your balance below 20 percent of the card’s limit. For example, if you have a credit card with a three hundred dollar limit you should keep the balance under sixty dollars. Credit Repair Timing is EverythingFor clarity, I should point out that you can do anything you want with your credit card balance if no one will be looking at your scores. Running a high balance has no long term effect on your score; as soon as you pay down your balance your scores will pop right up. Just make sure to get your balances down at least sixty days in advance of needing your scores, as it can take that long for the credit bureaus to get the updated balance information. How much of an impact will this have on your credit repair results? It can change your life. The difference between a low balance and a maxed out card can translate into a whopping 150 points. See the light! The Right StuffStay away from store cards and consumer credit such as furniture, appliance, and electronics store loans, at least while you are trying to fire up your credit repair project. If you have this type of debt right now try to pay it off as soon as possible. The FICO scoring model has a bias against this debt and your score will pay the price. Once again, it doesn’t really matter if you open an account at every store in town as long as you don’t need your scores to be at their best right. Store cards and consumer debt can be convenient and even financially beneficial if used right, just make sure to clean things up at least sixty days before you need your score and you will see the credit repair results you are looking for. Learn About Statutes of LimitationIf you really want to fire up your credit repair weaponry and do some serious damage against the evil-doers you must take the time to understand the importance of statutes of limitation and their significance in dealing with errant collection accounts on your credit report. A statute of limitation is the period of time that a debt may be collected through the court system. In the vast majority of cases the statute of limitation is far less than the reporting period limit. Debts beyond the statute of limitation become extremely negotiable. If a collector has no leverage, and they know that you know, they are likely to become entirely docile and willing to accept a small settlement. In addition, you can stop any collector from contacting you with no worry about legal ramification, simply by sending them a cease communication letter. Want to learn more about this powerful credit repair tool? Statutes of limitation are state and debt type specific and are all easily found on the Internet. So logon and learn. Good luck!Copyright © 2009 Ian Webber. All Content. All Rights Reserved.

Gearing up for Credit Repair
Dec 31
Are You a Candidate for Credit Repair? It is true that millions of people have benefited from credit repair. But there are many misconceptions about the subject that have led others to jump into credit repair programs before they were ready. If you are truly a candidate you are likely to see dramatic results in a short period of time. Your credit report can be tidied up and your credit scores optimized; many people see a complete transformation on their report and a significant jump in their scores within just a few months. You Are Not a Candidate, if…You are not a candidate for credit repair if you are having trouble paying your bills. Credit repair is not about eliminating debt or finding a way to erase legitimate obligations from your reports. There is little point in starting the process of cleaning up your credit if there will be new derogatory information reported each month. If you are in a financial bind there are several other options that you should investigate, including consumer credit counseling, debt negotiation, and bankruptcy. Prior to deciding on a course of action please take your time to research these options carefully. You Are a Candidate, if…You are a candidate for credit repair if your finances are reasonable stable. You must be able to keep up with your bills, and ideally have a little money left over for savings. The ability to contribute, even a small amount, to a saving account will allow you to create a safety cushion for unexpected expenses and to insure that you can preserve the fruits of your credit repair efforts. True progress may also require that you build new credit, and for many people this means opening secured credit cards. A secured card typically requires a small savings deposit ranging from 200 to 300 dollars, so you should have some money available to contribute to the cause. Getting StartedIf you are a candidate for credit repair there are several steps you must take to prepare for the process. This small investment of time at the outset will pay huge dividends. Too many people jump in blindly and consequently get frustrated, or more commonly get only half of the potential benefit. There are few things as important as your credit; you owe it to yourself to make sure the job gets done properly. When it comes to credit repair, short cuts are dead-ends. Here are some ideas about building the right foundation for your efforts. Get Your Credit ReportsStart by getting all three of your credit reports. Credit reports are a little tricky to read. If you purchase your three bureau credit reports individually, or opt for the free reports offered through the government mandated site AnnualCreditReport. com you will be starting your project at a disadvantage. Give yourself the edge and invest in a good tri-merged credit report online. One of these reports should cost you less than 20 dollars and is well worth the money. Most tri-merged reports structure your credit information for ease of understanding and will allow you to make sense of everything you see. Proofreading for Credit RepairThe goal of proofreading your credit reports is to indentify every single issue that is hurting your scores. Before starting there are two things you need to know. First, it is essential that you give yourself the benefit of the doubt; if there is any question in your mind about the accuracy of a derogatory item you should dispute it with the credit bureaus. Second, don’t skip anything regardless of how small. You might be surprised how little things can add up and impact your credit scores. It’s your credit. Everything matters. Spotting Invisible DangersWhen you proofread your credit reports there are several special things to look out for. These issues are hard-to-spot legal and reporting problems that can depress your scores, and yet unless you are alert they will escape your notice. Underreported credit limits can make your cards look like they are over utilized, accounts often continue to report as open with a balance long after they have been paid and closed, duplicate listings are commonplace and should be eliminated, collectors are supposed to withdraw their listings completely when they sell the debt to another collector or return it to the original creditor, but they do not often comply. All of these issues can hurt your scores so look sharp!Reach Out for HelpIf at any time you feel overwhelmed by the task you should reach out for help. There are many professional credit repair services that can insure that the job gets done properly. These companies are typically very affordable and will make sure that nothing gets left out. The best of these credit repair firms will also provide additional services like score consulting, rehabilitation and rebuilding guidance, and more. It’s your credit. It matters. Credit Repair Rule Number OneThe first rule in the world of credit repair: Give yourself the benefit of the doubt. You cannot afford to believe everything that is on your credit report just because it is in writing. Over three quarters of all credit reports have errors on them. Don’t be a victim of reporting errors. These errors can depress your scores and cost you money. Now is the time to take a stand. Proofread Your Credit ReportsGet your credit reports. You need all three bureaus to do the job right. I personally suggest that you invest a few dollars in the process and get a nice tri-merged report instead of individual reports from the three bureaus. Tri-merged reports are designed for clarity. This can make your credit repair job much easier. If you get individual reports you will discover that they each come in a unique format, and can be hard to understand. No need to struggle. Correct Card LimitsHere is a tricky issue that most people don’t pick up on. Many credit card issuers under-report card limits. This matters because your credit score is heavily influenced by the relationship between your balances and your limits. If a limit is under-reported it will appear to the credit scoring formula that you are using a higher percentage of your card than you really are. Put on your reading glasses and catch every mistake!Eliminate Duplicate AccountsAnother little problem that slips under most people’s radar screen is duplicate accounts. These may not be derogatory at all but may be hurting your credit score by making it appear as if you have more debt than you really do. Clean up your reports and have these duplicates removed. Dispute Most CollectionsMany people are not aware of the fact that collectors are supposed to remove collection accounts from your credit report when they sell your debt to another collector or send it back to the original creditor. Collections are bought and sold so often that it is worth challenging most collections. Focus on older and smaller accounts. Don’t dispute new accounts that you know are correct. This is a powerful credit repair technique for eliminating reporting violations, not for eliminating legitimate debt. Dispute all Unknown ItemsMany consumers are a victim of a common credit reporting breakdown called a file merger error. If you share similar identifying characteristics with another person their accounts may be mixed with yours. You should first contact the creditor directly and ask if they really have an account in your name. If they say no, dispute the issue with the credit bureau; if they say yes, and you know that you never opened an account with them, you may be a victim of identity theft and you should contact a credit repair expert for advice right away. Build New Credit TodayDon’t wait until your credit is great before building new credit. You need to start today. The right way to rebuild credit is with MasterCard and Visa accounts. Stay away from store cards and consumer debt. If you feel that you will be denied for new credit cards, get secured cards. You won’t be denied and you will get a much needed head start on building your credit scores. Secured cards are the ideal credit repair tool. Close Store AccountsStore cards and consumer debt, like furniture store loans, are not an option for re-building your credit. The credit scoring formula has a built-in bias against this type of debt and your scores will suffer. As mentioned, stick with MasterCard and Visa. If you have open store cards or consumer debt, start chipping away at the balances now and close the accounts if you have no further use for them. Consult a Credit Repair ExpertYou don’t have to do this on your own. You should consider contacting a reputable credit repair company and employing them for the job. Most professional services are extremely affordable and will provide ample support and information as they do the job and leave you with the education you need to maintain your scores once you complete their program. Good luck!Copyright © 2009 Ian Webber. All Content. All Rights Reserved.

Unlike the reports that you can get from the individual bureaus, tri-merged reports are designed to be user friendly. The easy-to-read format can make a big difference when you are trying to identify errors. Adjust Your Credit Repair BeliefsIf you are prone to accepting information simply because it is in writing it is time to adjust your beliefs. Give yourself the benefit of the doubt. More than half of all credit reports have serious errors. Take your time and proofread carefully. Donât let anything slip by. If you see a derogatory item on your report that you donât specifically recall, give yourself the benefit of the doubt and dispute it. Itâs your credit and every point counts. Dispute Your Errors, and MoreOnce you have identified the errors on your report send letters to the offending bureaus asking them to correct or remove them. But donât limit your credit repair effort to the obvious derogatory information. There are many things on your report that can harm your scores needlessly. Examine the reported limits on all revolving accounts. If the limits are underreported they will depress your scores. Remove duplicate accounts which can make you look overextended. Dispute questionable collection accounts. Collectors are supposed to pull their reporting when they sell an account to another collector but they rarely do so. Rebuild TodayCredit repair involves more than just cleaning up the derogatory information on your reports. If you really want your credit scores to improve you need to have open accounts. If hard times have left you without any active credit now is the time to rebuild. Donât delay. You do not need to wait until your credit is clean. You can get secured credit cards. They are the perfect credit repair tool. Two small secured cards can add up to a value of 150 points on your credit score within 6 months, so get started now. Ask for Credit Repair HelpConsult an expert. Most credit repair services offer free consultations and will be happy to take the time to review your situation with you. If you decide to hire them to manage the process for you they should insure that everything possible is considered. Six Super Credit Repair Tips
Dec 24
IntroductionCredit repair success has little to do with common sense and lots to do with technique. If you don’t make the right moves, the ones that are favored by the FICO scoring model, your credit repair effort will produce less than stellar results. But make the right decisions and you will be amazed at the quick progress you will see. Here are six super tips to get your credit repair effort on track. Build New CreditIf you don’t have any open credit cards this tip is for you. Too many people start their credit repair project thinking that they will get a couple of new cards after they have cleaned up their reports. This is a serious tactical error. You need to start rebuilding your credit now. Two new credit cards can be worth up to 150 points on your scores within six months. Don’t worry that you can’t get approved for regular credit cards, just get two secured cards. They are the perfect credit repair tool. You won’t get denied and before you know it your scores will be on their way up. Reduce Your BalancesOnce you have your credit cards you need to manage them for the best credit repair results. Don’t let them go to zero, as the FICO scoring model reduces the score value of inactive cards, and keep the balances low. This is true for all credit cards, but even more important for those secured cards you just got. Ideally you should only use twenty percent of the full amount available. As your balances increase your scores will fall. This is important. A maxed out card can cost you over 100 points. Avoid Store CardsOn the subject of credit cards, they do not all have the same value for your credit repair project. Stick with the majors like MasterCard and Visa, and avoid store cards altogether, at least while you are trying to rebuild your credit. The reason for this admonition is that the FICO scoring model will lower your scores when it sees that you have chosen to utilize this typically inferior form of debt. Store cards are doubly dangerous because they are typically approved for very small amounts, often just above the amount of your purchase creating an instantly maxed out account. Cool Your JetsWhile you are working on credit repair it helps to minimize the amount of credit activity that you engage in. Open two new secured credit cards as mentioned, but otherwise avoid excessive activity. New inquiries have a small impact on your credit score, but they add up. In addition, new accounts will depress your scores for the first few months they report. In the case of new secured cards this is a necessary sacrifice that will pay off in a big way over time. But, for the moment, cool your jets and let the good stuff happen. Validate Debts QuicklyIf you receive a collection letter open it! Don’t stick it in the drawer until you have the nerve to deal with it. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act requires collectors to provide proof that they have the legal right to collect, as well as an accounting of the amount of the collection. But they only have to do this if you ask for it within 30 days of getting the collection letter. This process is called debt validation and is a valuable aid to your credit repair effort. If the collector cannot validate the debt they must stop collection efforts and must not report the account to the credit bureaus. If they do validate the debt you will have the information you need to consider a negotiation strategy. Get Some Credit Repair HelpYou don’t have to do this on your own. There are many reputable credit repair services that will help you reshape your credit reports and improve your scores. In addition to the strategies noted above there are dozens of powerful credit repair techniques that might fit your needs. Many busy people opt to hire a professional credit repair service rather than trying to learn the entire process from the ground up. If you are busy and don’t have the time to do the job properly, just hire a pro. You will be glad you did!Copyright © 2009 Ian Webber. All Content. All Rights Reserved.
Beware Of Store Credit Cards
Dec 12
Store credit cards are offered every day by retailers with promises of discounts and special offers. It’s almost impossible to say no to those 10% to 20% discounts on your first purchase and subsequent discounts on other purchases. But is taking store credit cards really to your advantage? Do you really end up saving that much by using them? There is no question about that retailers offer more discounts with their credit cards when you purchase at the store than with other financial products or even when you pay in cash. However, what is the cost concealed within these offers? The store must be getting something out of it; otherwise they wouldn’t do it. But what is it? Customer Fidelity What stores get in exchange from these offers is customer fidelity. They make sure that you’ll keep buying at their store. Thus, they are guaranteeing an income from which they’ll benefit in terms of interests. Customer fidelity is a very important thing for companies. Most companies spend a lot of money to secure customer fidelity. But in this case, the one paying for it is the same customer that they want to turn into a regular company’s customer. Interest Rate Charged For Financing Another thing they get, that may sound as the most important one but not always is, is the return for financing your purchases. When you purchase goods and don’t pay the whole balance at the end of the period, you are financing your purchase and they will charge an interest rate for the unpaid balance. All credit cards charge an interest rate for this service with the sole exception of certain promotions that charge a 0% interest rate for financing but only for a limited period of time. However, the interest rate charged by store credit cards is significantly higher than the rate charged by most regular credit cards. Thus, though you might get that 10% discount on the retail price, you may end up overpaying due to the high interest rates that are charged for financing. Sharing Your Data For Revenue Also, most stores share your personal information with other companies so these companies can send you offers and promotions according to your needs and buying behavior. Of course, they don’t do this out of the goodness of their hearts. They actually charge a fair amount of money for providing their databases that are packed with very interesting details about you and your buying habits. If you are concerned about your privacy, you should always read the contract thoroughly before signing cause you may be giving written authorization to disclose this information and you may not be noticing it. This is a common practice among stores. Those stores that can obtain a fair amount of data about their customers usually sell this information to other companies and that’s the reason why people get offers in their mails with attractive content and they don’t know where did these companies got their contact information. As you can see, before jumping in to accepting that store card that they are offering you, you should consider all these variables and analyze whether it is really to your advantage.
Start Your Credit Repair RightDon’t make the mistake of rushing headlong into the credit repair battle without doing your homework, as you are certain to meet with disappointment. Invest a few hours in the planning stage of the battle and you can insure your success. You credit repair project is too important to make any fundamental errors, most of which can be easily avoided. Let’s look at the key issues that will determine the outcome. Make a CommitmentCredit repair success requires a commitment to timely payments from this point forward. It’s time to take an honest look at your personal finances. Dissect your budget. Examine every expense, from basic overhead to the discretionary items you purchase each month. Bite the bullet, put it all in writing, and exclude nothing. If you discover that you are spending more money each month than you have coming in you will need to make some changes. Credit repair can totally change your life, boost your confidence, and even lay the foundation for long term wealth, but you need to be honest with yourself, starting now. Accentuate the PositiveStart with a focus on the positive. Credit repair success demands the presence of open, well managed accounts. We will get to the more exciting subject of removing derogatory information from your reports in a minute, but in the final analysis it is the positive accounts that will define your credit repair results. You must have at least two open mainstream credit cards. If you do not have any open accounts, now is the time to open them. If you are concerned with your ability to get approved, get secured credit cards. They are the perfect credit repair tool. The Power of Credit CardsCredit card management for credit repair success is not hard, but there are two important issues that can make or break the outcome. First, credit cards are not created equal. Store cards and consumer credit, such as furniture and electronics store credit lines, are dangerous for your credit; the FICO scoring model is biased against these forms of credit. Mainstream cards such as MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover are the only way to go. Second, your account balance relative to your credit limit can swing your score one way or the other by as much as 150 points. Max out your credit cards and your scores will plunge. So watch those balances. Adjust Your AttitudeOnce you have gotten a handle on your personal finances and understand the importance of building and maintaining positive credit it’s time to move the troops into position. Let the battle begin. It’s you against the credit reporting errors that have accumulated on your credit report over the years. If you truly want to win the credit repair battle you need to make an attitude adjustment; give yourself the benefit of the doubt. Don’t believe the information on your credit report just because it is in writing. There are dozens of types of errors that are generated from legitimate issues. This means that an item is not necessarily accurate just because it looks familiar. Challenge CollectionsThe most common and damaging credit reporting error is the illicit collection. You may be aware that collections are bought and sold on a regular basis. You may, however, not know that when a collector sells an account to another collector or returns it to the original creditor they are supposed to withdraw their reporting altogether. Unfortunately, there is no penalty for failure to comply, and so many illicitly reported collections linger for years. Examine all collections very carefully. If there is any question that the collector still owns the debt you should challenge it. Continue the CleanupWhen it comes to other derogatory information on your report, such as late payments, you should continue to give yourself the benefit of the doubt. Late payment reporting errors are extremely common and yet often go unchallenged because consumers recall paying a late fee. This is not an indication of the accuracy of the reporting. Late fees are typically charged when a creditor receives your payment 15 days after the due date. Late payments on your credit report, on the other hand, are not supposed to be reported until you are a full 30 days late. Reach Out for Credit RepairWhen it comes to credit repair, every detail matters. As you get your credit repair project underway it is important to know that there is help available if you need it. Just reach out and ask. Most professional credit repair services offer a free consultation; take advantage. Make the most of your call by writing down your list of questions in advance. Get comfortable, take your time, and do it right. Credit repair success will be yours. Good luck!Copyright © 2009 Ian Webber. All Content. All Rights Reserved.
